Senior Care Group joined hands with Hong Chi Fu Shin Centre to organize the “Chinese Culture Day” event. On 24th June 2026, the corporate volunteer team from Senior Care Group spent the day with service users (trainees) of Hong Chi Fu Shin Centre, deepening their understanding of Chinese intangible cultural heritage—including traditional etiquette, festivals, crafts, and cultural customs—through interactive activities.
Before the event began, the Centre’s manager and staff briefed the volunteers on service guidelines and led them on a tour of the rehabilitation facilities. This allowed the volunteers to gain insight into the trainees’ daily routines, living habits, and regular training programs.
At the start of the program, volunteers hosted a warm-up activity: a “quiz game with prizes” themed around traditional Chinese festivals and festive foods. This helped the trainees revisit and appreciate the richness of Chinese cultural traditions.
Next came the handicraft session, where volunteers paired up “one-on-one” with trainees to paint wooden fans in the style of Chinese ink wash art. Everyone was highly engaged, and the handmade fans became meaningful gifts from the volunteers to the trainees, symbolizing the seasonal festival of the Summer Solstice.
Toward the end of the event, all volunteers, Hong Chi staff, and trainees gathered for a group photo. A senior instructor from Hong Chi Association guided the volunteers in reflecting on their experiences and insights. A representative from Senior Care Group presented a certificate of appreciation to Hong Chi Association, and also awarded certificates to the participating volunteers in recognition of their contributions.
The volunteers expressed that the visit was meaningful, broadening their horizons and helping them better understand the needs of different disadvantaged groups in the community. One volunteer shared that organizing the volunteer team and preparing the event added joy to her daily work. Several volunteers even recommended the corporate volunteer program to other colleagues in their respective elderly care homes, and looking forward to serving the community together again in the near future.
